Moon
Overview
Simply referred to as 'the Moon', the Moon is only moon. The crust is composed primarily of oxygen, silicon, and aluminum. The moon is in synchronous rotation with the Earth. The Moon has been colonized by Terrans.
Colonization
Before the invention of the FTL drive, when overpopulation became a problem on , efforts were made to colonize space. While a space station was considered, the most natural solution was the Moon. is credited for developing the necessary technology to create a self-sustaining colony on the Moon, and also establishing the first colony, which was called as Utopia Prime. At present, there are many colonies, owned by different corporations, over the surface of the moon, most on the side facing the Earth due to the fact that communication is easier without a giant rock between you and the destination. Those on the opposite side require relays over the surface so that messages can be passed to the other side of the moon before transmission (since moons cannot have stable satillites around them). Most of the Moon is owned by TriCoSoft.

At the time, the population on the moon is approximately 60 million.
"The Death Ray"
Of special note is that near the first colony, Utopia Prime, is a large weapon nicknamed 'the Death Ray'. It is owned by the McRonalds Corproation, and is a giant mounted device capable of sending short bursts of a highly focused laser anywhere on within its line of sight. It has only been used once during a conflict , and is capable of wiping out everything in a radius of several miles of ground zero in one burst. While there is no known defense against it, its maximum firing rate is slow, and if McRonalds were to attempt to wipe other corporations without a very good reason, every other force on the planet would likely have their armies headed towards the Death Ray facility within minutes. Thus, at the time, it serves more as a display of power and a constant threat than anything else. The facility is extremely heavily defended and is completely self-sufficient.
