Terran
Overview
Terrans, also known as humans, are made up of a species of humanoid primate-like creatures. Their homeworld is , although they have expanded into space and have colonized many planets. Terrans consider to be of prime importance, and are greatly motivated by it, often to the detriment of those around them. Terrans are largely atheistic or new age.

The Terran race is characterized by its focus on economic practicality and efficiency, standardization, a its economic drive, its skill in subterfuge, and its destructive capability.

A small percentage of the Terran population has potential for psionic ability.
History
Terrans have a long and violent history full of change and reform. Of note is a total of three world wars, the third of which caused the collapse of governments throughout , which lead to the rise of . More information can be found under Earth.
Language
English has been adopted as a standard language for Terrans, although other languages, especially Chinese, are still sometimes used.
Military
Each have their own private military. The McRonalds Corporation currently holds the strongest of all militaries. Each military is used under the individual agendas of their individual corporations.

The military is divided into the space force, which specializes in space-to-space warfare, the navy, which specializes in sea warfare as well as being renouned for its ability in cyber warfare, the army, which is strictly used in ground combat, and the Psionic Special Intelligence (PSI) operatives, which are a special force group of used in intelligence, covert warfare, and highly specialized tactical operations. The most commonly employed, however, as they are capable of working in just about any environment. They are most specially trained, however, for alien-terrain combat, ship/station-boarding, and space-to-planet warfare. While they are capable of working in unknown environments, they are not quite as well trained as the divisions specializing in a certain area. PSI operatives commonly work with all other divisions.

See for specifics about (obviously), their ships.
Psionics
Individuals with psionic abilities, generally referred to as psionics, were discovered shortly after World War III when their abilities seemed to emerge during the high-pressure situations of the time. It is unknown if the ability was always present, or somehow appeared at some later time in humanity. It does not appear to be genetically linked, and at the time, it can only be detected through use of brain scans, which have become standard in modern times for children at the age of 2.

When psionics were first discovered, they were immediately feared in the midst of an already chaotic situation, especially when accidents began occuring and others began using their abilities against others. As a result, when corporations gained control, a proclaimed hunt for all psionics began. Many were killed just for being suspected of being a psionic. Most went into hiding but in the end, nearly all were uncovered. Corporations, once obtaining them, did extensive studies and with the use of extreme conditioning programs, began to turn psionics into trained operatives that would later form the PSI, a military division of psionics that specialize in intelligence, covert operations, and various special ops.

While psionics are still feared and generally hated.
Technology
Terrans are extremely advanced in technology, especially in cybernetics. Various cybernetic implants are cheaply available to enhance vision or hearing, improve on motor function, strength, and reaction time, replace permenantly injured (or perfectly normal) limbs, and do a number of other things. Among these include brain implants. A neural memory chip is extremely common, which allows for a chip to be implanted into the brain. It allows for storing information in digital form, which can be converted back and forth within the brain, although it currently is not very fast in doing so. A much more expensive implant is the neural processor which allows for another chip to be implanted that, when combined with the memory chip, can process information there and allows for rapid, complex calculations with extreme accuracy (although again, it takes a bit of time for the signals of the brain to be interpreted into digital form, and then back again).

A few prototype chips exist that are supposed to support abilities, although these are classified and little is known about them. personel also standardly have a unit termination chip, which has a variety of less flattering names among military personel. This allows them, or others with specific codes, to set off the chip which will more or less fry their brain within a microsecond. This can be used to keep soldiers under control, and also in case they are captured by an enemy organization while having sensitive knowledge. Soldiers occasionally set it off themselves, although it is more often due to psychological trauma than the intended use of when they are being tortured for information. Due to the nature of the chip, the codes to activate it are extremely sophisticated. Even with the incredibly fast computers of the time, it would take longer than a soldier's lifespan to find the key by brute force. And each chip has a different code.

Terrans are capable of faster than light travel as well as cryostasis, which allows them to travel to the far reaches of the galaxy. The drawback is that due to relativity, by the time you get anywhere, most of the people you know will probably be dead unless they too happen to be travelling a lot. Due to this, and its expense, FTL drives are usually only used by military and those who have nothing they're leaving behind anyway (such as is often the case with Earth). Cryostatsis, in theory, can keep someone suspended for a maximum of 241 years, although in most cases, one circuit or another fails before then if someone is actually left suspended. Of course, nobody has bothered to test this considering the technology hasn't even been around that long.

Due to the distances being travelled, technology has been developed that employs quantum physics principles to allow for instantaneous communication over any distance. This technology, however, is very sensitive and extremely difficult to produce. Thus, it is not standard for anyone but military or extremely important, rich individuals. Standardly, each deep-space colony has a single one of these somewhere on the planet in case of emergencies.

Anti-matter has also been developed, which allows for extremely efficient conversion of matter into energy. However, it also produces a lot of waste, which is traditionally shot somewhere in deep space or tossed into a sun. Anti-matter weapons are also available, which are primarily used for space-to-planet artillery.
